Interview with Lorenzo Borgomeo(English version)

MMA Café: Hi Lorenzo! Thanks for your availability. Where and with whom are you training at the moment?

Lorenzo: Hello Andrea. Thanks to you. Now I am training at the Jaco Hybrid Center in Boca Raton, home of the 'Blackzilians'.

MMA Café: Could we officially say that this is the second phase of your American experience?

Lorenzo: We could say so…

MMA Café: Tell us about your record and your fights, among the defeats which one of them would you fight again and what would you change?

Lorenzo: I would like to have a rematch for all the fights I lost frankly, against Mikey Gomez at EliteXC, against Gerardt at Bellator, against Rigamonti in Italy. I do not think I lost the match with Rigamonti, but never left in the hands of the judges, right?

MMA Café: Which one of your victories do you prefer?

Lorenzo: Surely the one against Morales, in the first Bellator.

MMA Café: What did you miss in Italy that you needed to look for it in Florida?

Lorenzo: No, frankly, my wife lives in Florida and we were tired of a long-distance relationship. One of us had to move, and with the Blackzilians I have several opportunities, so we decided that I would have moved.

MMA Café: There was a rumor about a possible match in the BAMMA, what happened?

Lorenzo: Frankly, I have no idea, my opponent has turned down the match, and they never called me again.

MMA Café: Do you have any contact with other organizations? From one of your posts on Twitter, it seems that you are not able to find anyone who would like to find you a slot in an event and an opponent.

Lorenzo: I'm negotiating a match against Eric Reynolds, on September 28th at XFC.

MMA Café: From your Italian experience, what do you bring back in the USA?

Lorenzo: The group that we grown up at Hung Mun , both technically and personally, it remains one of my greatest professional satisfaction.

MMA Café: Which weight class will you fight at?

Lorenzo: Good question ... let's say at 77kg/170lbs, and sometimes at 70kgs/155lbs...

MMA Café: What do you think of all these up and downs in different weight classes that are taking place recently? Edgar, that although dominant at 155 dropped at 145, only after two defeats against Henderson, or Evans that would like to fight one last time at 205 before drop down at 185, while Bisping would do the opposite?

Lorenzo: Managing weight up and downs is a very complicated matter. Then at a high level come into play other dynamics (financial) which unfortunately do not concern me...

MMA Café: Jon Jones turned down the match against Sonnen with a few days notice, a championship fight, not a 3 rounds match, what would you have done? Would you have been a "company man" or would you have turned down it?

Lorenzo: I think that I would have been a 'company man' but I understand Jon Jones’ point of view, he has nothing to prove and he doesn’t need to accept a fight for economic reasons. Accepting a match for Jon Jones is very different respect the other fighters.

MMA Café: Super fights, dream fights ... recently Anderson Silva is releasing a lot of interviews, some of them bit funny, but who do you think would win between him and GSP in a catch weight match at 178 pounds?

Lorenzo: I think Anderson would win.

MMA Café: Would you like to be a member of the TUF tv format?

Lorenzo: Sure!

MMA Café: Why did you choose the Blackzillians and what's different from your experience at ATT?

Lorenzo: The team follows the athletes individually on every aspect, it is really the best team in the world.

MMA Café: The next UFC card is full of interesting fights, who would you pick of the main event clashes? Jones vsBelfort - Benavidez vs. Johnson - Bisping vs Stann

Lorenzo: Belfort, Benavidez, Bisping.

MMA Café: What do you think of this proliferation of MMA and BJJ instructors in Italy? How does a kid who has never practiced which of these are hoaxes and which are not?

Lorenzo: It is an interesting and tricky question. As far as I can tell, the FIGMMA is doing a great job in organizing competitions and training new teachers. If I was a neophyte I would contact the FIGMMA.

MMA Café: Thanks again for your availability!

Lorenzo: THANK YOU
